AK Nature Quest Staff Info
Thank you for signing up to staff the upcoming All Kings weekend.
Below is most of the information you will need to know.
If you have any additional questions, reach out to Raul at raul@allkings.org.
1) ADDRESS
Our Nature Quest weekends are held on donated land in upstate New York, roughly two hours outside the city. Here is the address:
464 White Sulphur Rd, Swan Lake, NY, 12783
https://maps.app.goo.gl/z66q2CyW93F96SmU9?g_st=iw
2) TIMING
Staff men arrive on-site at 6:00pm on Thursday night, to build the container and prepare for the new men.
Staff remains on-site for the duration of the weekend — until 5pm Sunday.
If you must be late, please contact a facilitator of the weekend before Thursday.
3) WAIVER
All staff men must complete our Online Liability Waiver. Link here.
4) DONATION
We host our weekends on a "Give What You Can" basis, to cover the costs of food, materials, and travel for our out of town facilitators. We ask that men contribute $20-2000. Please make your donation here. (All funds are tax-deductible.) Donations are optional, and no man will be turned away for lack of funds.
5) ACCOMODATIONS
With a few exceptions, all staff men sleep in sleeping bags in tents.
We reserve a few spots in the house for elders and men with medical conditions that prevent them from sleeping outside.
6) TRANSPORTATION
All Staff men will drive up with other staff men. The Transportation Coordinator for your weekend will reach out to connect you.
7) PACKING LIST
We can provide a tent, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad for any man that needs it. If you have your own gear, please bring it!
WHAT TO BRING
Your black AK T-shirt
A pillow for sleeping
Clothes for indoor and outdoor use. You will be spending periods of time outside so please bring warm clothing. It can be cold!
Rain gear. As always, it may well rain. Be prepared!
Shoes for indoor and outdoor use. Boots or old tennis shoes are highly recommended if you have them.
Earplugs if you want them. Some men snore. It's not their fault, and they can't help it. You CAN help being disturbed by bringing ear plugs!
Flashlight
Toiletries (including wash cloth, soap, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.)
A towel
A water bottle
A mug
Bug spray
Medical items you need for the weekend (e.g glasses, contact lenses, contact lens solution etc.)
A cushion to sit on (if you have one)
Tobacco to last you the weekend if you use it
A drum or musical instrument if you have one and would like to bring it
WHAT TO LEAVE BEHIND
Any recreational drugs or alcohol
Any weapons (e.g. firearms, knives, box cutters — or anything similar)
You can bring electronic devices and timekeeping items (e.g. phones / ipad or pods / watches) but they will not be allowed in the container.
8) A NOTE ABOUT WEAPONS & VIOLENCE
Our number one priority is safety. We do not allow any physical violence or weapons on our weekends.
We understand that some men carry weapons with them in their personal lives. We respect that choice. For reasons of safety, we do not allow any weapons in All Kings spaces. This includes any firearms, knives, sharp objects, or anything else meant to do personal harm.
Men who engage in physical violence or who are found to have weapons on them will be immediately asked to leave, and could be removed from the community.
9) OUTLINE & PROTOCOLS
Each weekend will include an “Outline” and “Protocols.”
The Outline is the list of processes on the weekend, with the names of men assigned to each process.
The Protocols are the detailed descriptions of the processes.
The Outline and the Protocols will be sent to you by email. You can also link to the Protocols through the Outline, by clicking on the name of the process. (If the process is blue with an underline — that’s a link.)
